12 Days of Baking: Day #8: Candy-Stripe Cookie Sticks

These cookie sticks are so fun! It does take some time though, so make sure you bake these early. You can only do like 2 or 3 at a time on a pan. But, they do store nicely for up to 1 week in an airtight container. They are so yummo! You can replace 1/2 the vanilla with peppermint for a twist if you like!

Ingredients
Makes 30
8 large egg whites
2 cups sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour
Pinch of coarse salt
10 tablespoons (1 1/4 sticks) unsalted butter, melted and cooled
1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons heavy cream
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Red gel-paste food coloring
