Finding Dory Opens Today, June 17th, Nationwide, FREE Downloadable Activities Plus Our Review

Synopsis

Disney•Pixar's “Finding Dory” reunites everyone’s favorite forgetful blue tang, Dory, with her friends Nemo and Marlin on a search for answers about her past. What can she remember? Who are her parents? And where did she learn to speak Whale?

Directed by Andrew Stanton (“Finding Nemo,” “WALL•E”) and produced by Lindsey Collins (co-producer “WALL•E”), the film features the voices of Ellen DeGeneres, Albert Brooks, Ed O'Neill, Kaitlin Olson, Ty Burrell, Eugene Levy and Diane Keaton. “Finding Dory” swims into theaters June 17, 2016.

Our Review

Score: 4 out of 5

If you were a Finding Nemo fan that you will likely enjoy Finding Dory. The story is similar to that of Finding Nemo. Finding Dory picks up one year after the events in Finding Nemo. Dory remembers that she has a family...parents. Dory, Marlin and Nemo go on a quest in search for her family. We are greeted by an original character, Crush. The journey is not very eventful as most of the action takes place once they arrive in California. Dory finds a cranky octopus that helps her (voiced by Ed O'Neil). She also discovers a former friend "pipemate" who is a whale shark that is nearsighted. through Dory's recollections we learn more about her parents and life before she met Nemo and Marlin and a little about her journey in Finding Nemo. So, if you didn't see Finding Nemo, it won't be an issue. The young Dory is soooooo cute!!!

There were several scenes of Dory alone after she "lost" her parents. As a mom, it made me so sad to see young Dory alone without parents in the ocean. The kids will likely feel the same way. But, we are instantly taken back to her as the forgetful, funny adult fish we all laughed with.

This movie is aimed for the young ones and that made me happy. Lately, there have been a few animated films that contained a bit of scariness for the younger crowd. This is more uplifting and light-hearted than Finding Nemo even. The moral of the story is that one can embrace their perceived disadvantages and celebrate who they are. It really is a family-friendly film for all ages!

The scenes really came to life in 3D or IMAX 3D, Id' recommend spending the extra to see it in either of these versions.

Then head inside the venue an hour before the show at the All Access Pre-show, which is free with your ticket purchase. You and your family can meet our international cast of performers and get up close to our menagerie of animals. Try on custom costumes, learn circus skills - like juggling - from the famous Ringling Bros. Clown Alley and even have the opportunity to win a one of a kind masterpiece created by one of our very own Ringling Bros. painting pachyderms!
