Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive to Benefit
Henderson Schools Now Through Aug. 20

The City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department and KOMP 92.3 are co-sponsoring Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive now through Aug. 20. The drive is designed to bring the community together to donate new school supplies to benefit Henderson schools. School supplies may be dropped off at any City of Henderson recreation center in specially marked boxes. Those donating supplies will receive a free pass to Black Mountain Aquatic Complex (valid on Aug. 21) as a thank you.

From 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Aug.21, the drive concludes with a free event at Black Mountain Recreation Center and Aquatic Complex, 599 Greenway Rd., when all collected supplies will be “stuffed” into a 40-passenger bus. The goal is to fill the bus to capacity. Bounce houses will be set up for children to enjoy during the event and those with passes will be able to swim for free at the Aquatic Complex.

“Whether it is a notebook, box of crayons, glue stick or other school supplies, every item will find its way into the hands of a child who needs it, children right here in Henderson schools,” said Nick McLemore, Recreation Services supervisor, City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department. “Every item donated, no matter how small, will make a difference. Knowing the generosity of Henderson residents, this program may very well become an annual event.”
