Confessions of an Extreme Couponer:
  1. I am an Extreme Couponer in Las Vegas!
  2. I do NOT have a problem!
  3. It is a sport or a game to me, but that is just to make it fun.
  4. The reason I started: My husband was laid off from his construction job and I was home with 3 young kids. I couldn't afford to go back to work, I'd be paying more in daycare than I was making. I had to do something and I found Couponing! Now I make more, by saving my husband's take home pay than I would have otherwise.
  5. I do not spend 40hrs Couponing; well...I do on the blog- but that is to save you time!!!
  6. I spend about 3-5 hrs per week on my own shopping!
  7. I do NOT have a coupon binder that I consider another "child"; I virtual file and clip when I'm ready- it saves me time!!! I do carry it in this nifty binder though (the loose ones and some whole inserts)
  8. I do know more than most cashiers regarding their stores' coupon policy!
  9. I do have several years worth of stockpile in certain areas and I am not ashamed.
  10. I am not a proclaimed shelf clearer, some times it happens but I am not over indulgent - I typically pre-order if the quantity is large.
  11. I save on retail, dining out, entertainment and more- I think I am a "smart shopper" not cheap!
  12. I was using coupons before they were "cool"; before Groupon...LOL!
  13. When I really have excess of something: I donate or give it away!
  14. I NEVER pass up a FREE food item- there is no tax here!
  15. I rarely pass up a Free non-food item!
  16. I ALWAYS buy money maker items, but I respect limits placed by the stores!
  17. I shop at many stores, I am an equal opportunity shopper: Walgreens, CVS, Albertsons, Vons, Smith's, Food 4 Less, Fresh & Easy, Sam's, Costco, Smart & Final, Trader Joes, Target, and Wal-mart - not all every week!
  18. I do have a life outside of Couponing: I have 4 amazing kids and a terrific hubby!
  19. My husband knows that he is in the doghouse if he buys something without a coupon!
  20. My kids grab coupons from the blink machines in the grocery aisle and frequently ask, "Do we have a coupon for this?"
  21. I get lots of inserts and frequently order coupons online!
  22. I have a passion for saving money and spreading the word!

My name is Jackie and I am an Extreme Couponer!

  7. Hi Jackie,

My husband also had been laid off from construction for two years. He finally found a part time job(only working 12 hrs a week) as a valet parker. I work and have a 14 year old son. My check pays the bills and that's it. My husbands pays necessities. I got in to couponing also. I do very well when it comes to household items, but can't quit get the grocery store down. I was so glad to find someone here in Vegas. One gal that I used to get her newsletter lived in Colorado. There policy are way different plus they have stores we have never heard of here in Vegas. I hope I can do better now that I found you. I am thinking about attending one of your workshops, so maybe we may meet in person soon

  10. Hi Jackie
Glad to see your in Las Vegas Couponing. I myself just started couponing. Like all the other stories I have just read. I am a mother of three as well and we owned a business for 15 years and for the last 2years we have had no income. Now its down to the grind. I have no choice but to coupon and bring food to the table. I refuse to go on welfare or food stamps.I will learn this thing and do what it takes. I also think it is fun and to help other women in the same boat is just another blessing that can be passed. I look forward to attending a seminar for this avenue. Thank you for sharing your stories.
    Good luck everyone of you.
