Important News from My Vegas Mommy - Welcomes The Newest Blogger To The Team

It comes with a bit of sadness that I announce that I will be relocating to Medford, Oregon on July 1st. I started my venture couponing when my husband was laid off 3 years ago and even though he has taken jobs here and there, we have not been in a stable job with decent pay for a lot of that time. Last year he took an entry job with a local construction company and they have a position open, that is actually his career, in their new office in Medford. For the last 6 weeks he has already relocated and I am here waiting for the kids to finish school and spend a little summertime with my family that will be visiting from out of town in June. The future is still questionable here from the carpenter's union standpoint and this is a fabulous opportunity for him. I will miss Vegas, I have lived here for nearly 11 years and I realize that there are so many great amenities here that I never got to experience or take for granted. I will be back to visit as my parents still live here and Allegiant flies from Vegas to Medford! But, all the news is not sad! As you may know, I am part of the mycitymommy network, we are a team of bloggers providing info in 31 cities with more to come.

I WILL continue to blog here on My Vegas Mommy, so don't fret about the site it will only get even better! I still maintain ownership of the brand from my new location and promise you will not go without. So, we need someone local and it is with great excitement that I announce the newest addition to My Vegas Mommy: Jen Morris. Jen will be a great addition to the team and will be able to provide you those local posts alongside me that you enjoy so much. This will be an awesome thing and will allow My Vegas Mommy to provide the best information to you all by having more than one of me! Since she is part of the in-home coupon party network around Vegas, there will be more than a dozen instructors that will represent the My Vegas Mommy brand as well; bringing more coupon swaps and workshops all throughout the valley. Look for those instructors announcements soon. There are a lot of great things on the horizon all geared to bring more information to you all and helping you save money. So exciting...please welcome her!

Jen Morris:
Hey there!  My name is Jen Morris, and I am so excited to be part of My Vegas Mommy.  I have lived in Henderson (across the street from Vegas) since I was 10 years old.  By Vegas standards that makes me mostly a 'Native'.  I went to Green Valley High School (go Gators!), and then met my hubby just 4 months after graduating.  We were inseparable right from the start.  He was/is my long lost best friend.  Joe and I were married just 8 months after we met.  I swore I would not be that girl who got married right out of high school, but alas, when you find "The One" why waste time, right!  It took us several years to start our family, but once we figured out what wasn't working quite right - me - they came fast and furious.  We now have 5 amazingly wonderful and unique children:  Jillian is 10, Jakob is 7, Jarrett is 5, Jocelynn is 3, and Jaxson just turned 1.  Yes, we are all J's.  No, we didn't get the idea from the TV show.  No, we are not having any more - at least not out of my belly.

I was introduced to the world of couponing a little over 2 years ago.  I was invited to attend a Grocery Smarts class at my friends home and it was literally an answer to my prayers.  We were already a pretty frugal family - we lived in a 2 bdrm condo, we own 1 very old very capable car, we have no credit card debt, our idea of a dream vacation was camping at Yosemite.  We did very well living within our means, but with a growing family I was really having a hard time with the space.  In order for us to move into a home that would fit our family, we needed to find am extra $500 a month in our budget.  Since I am a stay-at-home-but-rarley-at-home-mommy, it was not really in the cards for me to go back to work.  Well, at the class, it took all of 5 minutes for me to be on board 110% with couponing and using their free website to compile my grocery lists!  Why not give it a try, right?  My second month couponing, I was able to go from spending $1,000 a month in food and household items, to $470!  And I had MORE stuff and BETTER stuff than ever before!  I was hooked!  And guess what?!? I found my $500!!  We have since moved into a home that is better suited for our family of 7.

I started teaching in-home coupon classes for Grocery Smarts and the next year was asked to manage all the instructors for the Las Vegas area.  You might remember me from The Grocery Geeks.  I had fun blogging about my coupon adventures, but had always had a secret desire to be a 'cool' blogger like Jackie!  My dream came true when Jackie asked me to help her maintain this blog when she moved from Vegas.  I am really looking forward to getting to know everyone here and hopefully be able to add some fun new ideas to our savings adventures!
