
Today (11/10), Cookie Monster, Elmo, Big Bird and the rest of the Sesame Street neighborhood is celebrating the 45th anniversary of the iconic television show and its mission of helping children grow smarter, stronger and kinder.
As the longest running children’s television show in history, domestic and international versions of Sesame Street reach 156 million children worldwide in 150 countries that not only teach the alphabet, but also tackle tough issues including incarceration, divorce and even HIV/AIDS.
Having won an unprecedented 159 Emmy Awards and the adoration of countless children and parents around the world, even Hollywood’s biggest stars – like Michael Jackson, BeyoncĂ©, andEllen DeGeneres – have visited the stoop of 123 Sesame Street.
Fun fact: James Earl Jones was the first celebrity ever to appear on the show in 1979! One Directionand First Lady Michelle Obama are just a few of the special appearances you can catch throughout Season 45.

Man this makes me feel so old, used to watch this every morning with my sons when they were growing up, the Sesame Street songs stays on your mind and I love the Count and Cookie Monster is my favorite, I think that Sesame Street is a wonderful asset for our children and grandchildren
ReplyDeletehey dorothy, i feel old because of this too. i have tried to get my daughter to get into sesame street, but she doesn't look as into it as i was back then. but i still love to watch from time to time. thanks for this summary
