Today, 8/30/15, is the release of Disney Infinity 3.0.
I have 3 very enthusiastic boys that couldn't wait to get their hands on this game.
Here's a breakdown of the sales that I have found along with lots of information.
Disney Infinity 3.0 Downloadable Game Just $19.99!!!
First, if you already own Disney Infinity 1.0 or 2.0, note that you DO NOT need a new base for this game. That means you do not need to purchase the Starter Pack (pictured above).
You can download the game from the shop in your platform for $19.99.
For example, if you have Wii U, just visit the Nintendo eShop on your console and you will see it available for download for just $19.99. Internet connection to your system is required. Also, you will need space on your console to save the game. So, check your data management first.

If you do decide that downloading the game is the way to go, you will be missing the play set that comes in the starter pack, Star Wars™ Twilight of the Republic along with the characters: Ahsoka Tano, Anakin Skywalker. You can pick this up as a stand alone set anytime for about $35.
So, you will come out to about $55 for the download and playset. However, if you have a player that has no interest in Star Wars™ and you will not need that playset, then this is the way to go!
For just $10 more, you can get the starter pack for $64.99 that also contains the base...
I chose to just purchase the starter pack and save the base, so now I have an extra, just in case.

So, as you can see that, there is no need to get the Saga Bundle unless you have a Playstation 3 or 4. However, this is only for a short time. As Disney will release the Rise of the Empire Play Set on September 29th everywhere. As well as the characters: Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Boba Fett. Play sets are not console specific.
Of course, if you were a "die hard" and couldn't wait until the end of September you could purchase this set and use it for any console, but not the included game, you would need to purchase the game stand-alone as a download for your platform.

Power Discs
One of my absolute favorite things about 3.0 and its changes is the power discs.
I cannot tell how much I hate blind disc packs from the previous versions 1.0 and 2.0.
