Downton Abbey: A New Era Movie Review & Game Giveaway

Downton Abbey: A New arrives today (5/20) in theaters. It’s everything pleasant we love about the Crawley family just living their lives a few years later from the first film. I loved it!

Score: 4.5 out of 5
Rating: PG
Runtime: 2hr 5min

!!! No Spoilers !!!

A New Era starts it’s storyline with an expectation from the first film. Then we discover that their are two storylines.

Downton is still struggling a bit financially and when a motion picture director desires to use the grand estate for a film, Mary decides it is in their best interests financially. With the support of her sister Edith, Mary embarks on as the one “steering the ship”. The film is set in 1928, the turn of some major motion picture drama with talkies. Some of the plot will be familiar to other motion pictures, but the enthusiasm of Mr. Mosley makes up for it.

Half of the cast is travels to the a villa in the south of France, as the dowager countess receives word that she inherited a villa there. It is at a point in time where traveling to that region during the summer is becoming a vacationing spot. The villa is everything we would want to see a vacationing Crawley family stay in. It is a bit out of the comfort zone for some as they are so accustomed to British traditions. The liveliness of France is welcomed and it is nice to see the family having some fun.

I adored the film. As a longtime Downton Abbey fan, it was everything I wanted…the continuation of seeing my beloved characters happy. It was pleasant and packaged up in a nice bow if this is the end. There was an abundance of the wit that will have the audience laughing more often than expected. If you are a Downton fan, it is a must see. If you like easy not too much drama, this film is great one to venture to the theaters to, with it’s PG rating, it is just delightful.
